Now in planning and design, the City of Fate’s new Police Headquarters will replace the city’s outdated 2,100 SF joint Police/Fire facility and establish the cornerstone of a long-range public safety campus. Developed in close collaboration with command staff and city leadership, the project reflects extensive benchmarking tours and is purpose-built to support a future 100-officer department.
We chose Randall Scott Architects for their small firm access and their large firm experience. I was impressed with their detailed knowledge of the needs in modern law enforcement facilities. Our new police facility is a custom design with our input, not just a copy or variation of other facilities they have previously designed.

The facility is organized to enhance operational efficiency, long-term adaptability, and community transparency. Key program elements include secure evidence storage and processing, juvenile processing with appropriate separation and protections, dedicated briefing and training spaces, a fitness and wellness suite, and a 24-hour public lobby with controlled access and enhanced visibility for staff safety. Support spaces, such as a vehicle search bay, sally port, and specialized storage areas, are planned to meet both current needs and the demands of a rapidly growing community.
The architectural approach balances civic presence and cost-conscious efficiency, using durable materials and strategic enhancements at public-facing areas while maintaining economical solutions along secure, non-public façades. The design integrates principles of modern law enforcement facility planning, emphasizing officer wellness, intuitive circulation, and high-performing adjacencies that reduce response time and improve daily workflow.
Site planning anticipates the development of a future Fire Station on the adjacent parcel, allowing this project to serve as the first phase of Fate’s long-term Public Safety Campus. The headquarters expresses a unified municipal identity through material choices, massing, and a distinctive corner presence that reinforces its role as a 24/7 civic landmark.
