Randall Scott, AIA

Principal

Founding Principal Randall Scott is one of Texas’ most accomplished public architects, with a four-decade career focused exclusively on higher education and civic clients. He has led more than $4 billion in public-sector work, and been a distinguished thought leader in the design of university student housing, health sciences and academic projects, as well as municipal city halls, public safety and public works projects.

Across all project types, he is known for celebrating the heritage of the communities and campuses that he serves and has developed a reputation for thoughtful, context-driven design.  Randall’s approach as a designer is that of a master craftsman, using his expertise to elevate his client’s experience and expectations while also passing on the subtle beauties and technical skills to the next generation of architects at RSA.

Randall continues to be personally involved in every project the firm undertakes, ensuring continuity of design excellence and a consistently high standard of service.

Randall and his team are good listeners, creative thinkers, and have a deep and thorough understanding of the needs of municipal employees.  I would highly recommend them for your project.  But please, visit the magnificent city hall in downtown Boerne and see for yourself.  It has made a wonderful addition to our historic downtown.

Randall’s Perspective

Randall approaches architecture with a heritage-focused mindset, designing buildings that “honor the past and look toward the future.” That same generational perspective shaped the development of Randall Scott Architects, which he now leads alongside his son Preston—a direct parallel between how the firm is built and its contextual heirloom design approach.

Early in his career, Randall developed a deep appreciation for the lasting legacy of public architecture—a realization that galvanized his focus toward civic and higher education work.  It was this journey in public architectural design that informed the firm’s original design tenets: Timelessness, Contextualism, Sustainability, and Innovation.

Regardless of project type, Randall's approach is grounded in the belief that architecture should reflect the DNA and identity of its community rather than the designer behind it. His buildings are shaped by place, culture, and use, creating environments that feel authentic, grounded, and enduring for the people they serve.
