The Frisco Public Works Service Center expansion and renovation repositioned an aging facility into a modern, service-forward hub that reflects the city’s rapid growth and strong municipal identity. Grounded in a strategic analysis of the existing campus, the project reinvests in Frisco’s building inventory while enhancing functionality, efficiency, and alignment with the city’s brand.

A new two-story glazed atrium and a series of outward-sloped window walls transformed the structure into an open, light-filled workplace. These large glass gestures—angled nearly 15 degrees to reduce glare without compromising views—underline the department’s values of outreach and transparency. Natural light now permeates workstations, training rooms, and collaboration areas, fostering a culture of teamwork and well-being that supports recruitment and retention.

The renovation expands and reorganizes the building to house Public Works divisions including water, wastewater, SCADA, traffic, and administration. Infrastructure upgrades include a hardened SCADA room with emergency power and redundant fiber loops, ensuring system resilience.

Operational efficiency was significantly elevated through a complete rethinking of warehousing and logistics. Dual truck-loading capability, densified storage systems, and high-bay racking streamline movement across the campus, significantly improving staff workflows. An outdoor oasis between the administrative wing and the warehouse provides a welcoming space for breaks and employee events, reinforcing the building’s role as both a workplace and a supportive civic environment.
