Designed to serve as Joshua's primary fire station, fire administration headquarters, and emergency operations center, the facility demonstrates how thoughtful planning can maximize performance within a modest public budget. Working within a tight construction budget, RSA prioritized durable, low-maintenance materials and efficient building systems that reduce long-term operating costs while supporting the daily needs of firefighters and emergency personnel.

The narrow, deep site presented a significant planning challenge. RSA oriented the apparatus bays along an east-west axis to take advantage of prevailing southern winds for natural ventilation while positioning the fire administration wing prominently along Main Street to establish a civic presence.

A welcoming barrel-vaulted entry canopy leads visitors to a public lobby with direct access to the training and community room, exam room, and public restrooms, allowing the station to serve both emergency responders and the community. Exterior materials, including brick, stone, stucco, and standing-seam metal roofing, provide a durable civic character designed for decades of service.
