The Texas Department of Public Safety Administration and Training Headquarters was designed as a central hub for statewide law enforcement leadership and advanced instruction. Located on an 1,100-acre campus in the Texas Hill Country, the 44,000-square-foot facility functions as a magnet facility for advanced tactical law enforcement training while supporting adjacent operational assets, including a firing range and a 150-acre emergency vehicle operations course. The building was developed in tandem with RSA’s Fleet Maintenance Facility to establish a cohesive DPS campus.

The facility consolidates administrative offices and training functions into a single, efficient building. Program elements include staff offices, document preservation vaults, tiered lecture halls, tiered and flexible flat-floor classrooms, an outdoor classroom, and a large multi-purpose cafeteria with catering kitchen. A two-story lobby and gallery anchors the building, providing pre-function space for cadets and officers while also serving as a setting for historic displays reflecting the department’s mission and legacy.

Architecturally, the facility is a two-story steel superstructure clad in locally sourced limestone, paired with a standing-seam metal roof, cedar wood trim, and architectural metalwork. Stone quarried within two miles of the site was used to reduce transportation costs and reinforce regional character, and was also incorporated into perimeter barriers for vehicle breach protection. The building is slightly elevated to align with natural topography, minimizing grading while enhancing security and presence, with the DPS star marking the primary entry.
