This Community College nursing building and health science center is an excellent example of “best value." Our design team was asked to provide a top tier facility as economically as possible. Our team worked diligently to provide a dynamic learning environment and simulation center for these community college students. The nursing program of Trinity Valley Community College serves a critical need for registered nurses in East Texas and DFW. Our team values its partnership with this community college because we get to provide these students with high quality simulation, skills labs and classrooms while helping the college to be as efficient and economical with its funds as possible.
This project was imbued with the economical beauty often found in community college design. This project was not extravagant, but the opportunity this new facility offers students is inspiring. RSA is particularly proud of its contribution to this nursing and allied health program because this new facility has launched the college into a full pursuit of a 4-year BSN program from its current ADN 2-year program. Now that this community college has the facility to achieve the highest level of nursing simulation and education, the college is bringing a higher level of graduate outcomes to
these rural students in East Texas.
A few of the unique elements in this Community College HSC include:
- Top tier “Level 3” Simulation platform with control rooms, control tablets, Audio/Visual recording and debriefing rooms with SMART boards and collaboration tools.
- Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality EMT Lab with a full size training ambulance. In this Lab, students wear virtual reality glasses and take action in high intensity scenarios. The virtual reality simulation takes place around and inside the full size ambulance prop. This EMT suite places students in critical scenarios while they are still in education so as to better prepare them for real life situations.
- A Pharmacy Tech program with dedicated classrooms and teaching labs to support the program.
