The Killeen Community Center Expansion/Renovation has the goal to create a multi-generational facility for all ages that will achieve better utilization of the building and encourage cross pollination of seniors with younger generations with the intent of rendering opportunities for mentorship, purpose and energization. The campus master plan developed by RSA includes an add alternate for pickleball courts and a future gymnasium with the intent to provide future benefits for all generations using this campus. The design of the newly renovated/expanded facility corrects a number of planning deficiencies in the existing Community Center such as meeting rooms that can only be accessed from the gymnasium which is problematic during basketball and other activities. Another course correction in the proposed new design is a multi-purpose food service/concessions kitchen that serves both a large meeting/banquet room and the existing gymnasium. The Facility includes a private porte-cochere covered drop off, a billiards room, library, theater room, computer room, banquet hall with stage, ceramic studio, card rooms, trellis covered outdoor veranda overlooking the pickleball courts (add alternate), well appointed catering kitchen, wellness room and dedicated restrooms.
