DPS Fleet Maintenance
Construction Cost : $3.7M | SF : 13,760
The Texas Department of Public Safety had an 1100 acre campus in Williamson County near Florence, TX with gun ranges, a driving track and a few supporting buildings on it. Through the Texas Facilities Commission (TFC), DPS commissioned RSA to design a signature Vehicle Maintenance, Emergency Services and Fueling Station Complex to service state trooper cruisers, SUV’s and training vehicles. The Maintenance Building was part of a larger 39,000 SF complex that included a new Public Safety Administration and Training Facility on the campus. RSA’s design called for cladding the pre-engineered metal building structure with large format limestone quarried within 2 miles of the site. Located in the Texas Hill Country, the design incorporated traditional Hill Country limestone, standing seam metal roof and red cedar wood trim. The Vehicle Maintenance Building consisted of 6 service bays with hydraulic lifts, emergency fire fighting equipment and tow truck bays, a wash down bay, alignment bay, tire shop, parts storage, small tools shop, offices and equipment storage. An above ground fueling station for gasoline and diesel fuels with matching stone clad columns and canopy was constructed near the main building.
