Central Fire Station & Fire Adminisration | Joshua, Texas
Construction Cost : $3.2M | SF : 12,300
The Joshua Central Fire Station, Fire Administration and EOC was a new fire fighting facility designed to meet a modest budget of $3.2M. While the building by necessity was required to utilize inexpensive structural and mechanical systems to meet the aggressive budget, the exterior of the building and building finish out were carefully articulated by RSA with cost effective low maintenance materials to reduce life cycle cost and allow firefighters to focus on their primary purposes of training and fighting fires. The project site provided a design challenge in that it was deep and narrow. RSA’s solution called for an east/west apparatus bay orientation taking maximum advantage of Texas’ predominantly southern winds with a perpendicular axis for Fire Administration facing the main highway. Exterior finishes include cultured stone, brick, stucco and standing seam metal roofing. A barrel vaulted canopy reaches out toward visitors traveling Main Street welcoming them to the main Building Lobby where public access is granted to the Training/Community Room, Exam Room and Public Restrooms.
